The marketplace battle between the similar Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid is so competitive that it seems that when one of the automakers ups the ante—even slightly—the other one quickly responds. This back and forth one-upmanship has long kept the two cars high atop CR’s ratings, and well ahead of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, the only direct competitor of the two.

Clearly, buyers still appreciate these sedans for their history of being reliable, fuel-efficient, comfortable, and affordable.

The two sedans match up closely in size, power, and price, but they stand out from each other in some key parameters. So which one performs better? Which is more enjoyable to drive? Which is easier to live with? Which one yields better fuel economy?

    More on Hybrids

To answer those questions and more, we took an in-depth look at how these two hybrid sedans compare in CR’s testing and surveys.

We also note which active safety equipment—such as automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, AEB that works at highway speed, blind spot warning (BSW), and rear cross traffic warning (RCTW)—comes as standard or optional equipment. Then we let you know which car we think is tops.
