If you’re in the market for a new mattress, you might be able to find a good price on a great model right now. With Labor Day coming up in just a few days, plenty of brands and retailers have some of their best sales of the year for the long weekend.

We keep tabs on the mattresses that do well in Consumer Reports’ tests to show you the best offers on high-quality models from top brands such as Avocado, Essentia, Nolah, Serta, and more. The prices listed below are for the queen-size version, but all other sizes are similarly discounted.

There are also plenty of great discounts on everything you’ll need for a great night’s sleep, including pillows, sheets, sleep masks, and other accessories CR has evaluated. And if you’re a CR member, you may be able to take advantage of some exclusive mattress and bedding deals. You’ll need to be logged in to see the details.

For more information on mattresses, see CR’s mattress buying guide. CR members can check out our mattress ratings to see how well more than 200 models do in our tests for supporting people of all sizes, whether you sleep on your side or your back. Our mattress selector can also help you narrow down your choices.

If you’re looking for an affordable firm mattress, the Serta Sheer Slumber mattress fits the bill. It lands a 9 out of 10 on our firmness scale, and, with a price under $500, it’s one of the more affordable foam mattresses in our ratings. Overall, this mattress-in-a-box offers impressive support for most sleepers, with the exception of large side sleepers, who can expect only average support. Serta foam mattresses receive so-so scores for comfort and predicted reliability, according to CR’s member surveys.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a significant discount on one of the lower-cost options that score well in CR’s tests. In fact, Walmart has the lowest price we’ve seen all year.

The Leesa Legend Hybrid combines innersprings and foam, and proves to be a winning combination for back sleepers, who can expect very good support. For all but petite side sleepers, though, support is merely average. The durability is first-rate, with little sagging, softening, or other damage in eight years of simulated use, and this model is highly stable. The Leesa brand earns high marks in CR’s owner surveys for comfort and satisfaction.

Why it’s a good deal: You’re saving an impressive $500 for this mattress.

The Tuft & Needle Nod mattress-in-a-box has few weak spots. The innersprings topped with foam deliver impressive support to all types and sizes of sleepers, from petites to large and tall. The durability is top notch, with little in the way of sagging, softening, or damage in eight years of simulated use. This model is highly stable, though it does not resist bounciness, a potential drawback when a sleeper changes position.

Why it’s a good deal: You can save about 15 percent on this mattress, which matches the best price we’ve seen all year.

The My Green Mattress Natural Escape innerspring model topped with latex foam earns near-perfect ratings for back and spine support, no matter the sleeper’s size or favored sleep position. But like most innersprings in CR’s ranking for the best mattresses for hot sleepers, this mattress-in-a-box receives just an average rating for stability, which means sleepers may feel vibration from a partner’s tossing and turning. On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, this mattress lands right in the middle, with a 5. While the brand receives an above-average score for comfort in CR’s member surveys, its owner satisfaction rating is just average.

Why it’s a good deal: With the code USAMADE, you can take 15 percent off this mattress. This beats the best price we’ve seen in months by about $55.

If you’re looking for a softer mattress that offers support, the Nolah Natural may just fit the bill. It gets above-average ratings for people of all sleep styles and sizes, and it shines when it comes to durability. The only place it falls short is in stabilization, where it gets middling scores in CR’s tests.

Why it’s a good deal: Nolah’s Early Access Labor Day sale has the best price we’ve seen this year, beating the previous low by $70.

Casper’s Hybrid is an innerspring mattress with several layers of foam. It offers a good night’s rest for all the sleeper sizes and styles we test for. CR members say Casper mattresses are a great value, and more than half of those surveyed would buy another.

Why it’s a good deal: This matches the lowest price we’ve seen for this mattress.

Finding the right mattress for how you sleep can be tricky, but in our tests, the Midnight Luxe is a great choice for people of all sizes, whether they sleep on their back or side. One thing to note about this mattress is that it’s 14 inches high, so you’ll need deep-pocket sheets.

Why it’s a good deal: This matches the best price we’ve seen for this mattress. Just use the code LDS25 to get the 25 percent discount.

The Essentia Stratami serves petite and average-sized back sleepers best, earning a top-tier rating in terms of support. (Large/tall back sleepers and side sleepers of all sizes will experience decent support, too, given its nearly as impressive scores in those categories.) It’s only 8 inches thick and has a firmness-scale score of 6 out of 10, similar to that of the all-foam Casper. The Essentia is the only mattress from our top four innerspring and foam lists to receive a top rating in both owner satisfaction and reliability, according to data from our CR member surveys.

Why it’s a good deal: This is one of the most expensive mattresses in CR’s ratings, so this sale is a worthwhile opportunity to save. The 25 percent Labor Day discount will automatically apply at checkout.

Avocado makes some top-notch mattresses, and this sale is a great chance to save on one. (The Green usually goes for $1,999, and the Green Pillowtop is priced at $2,499.) Both Avocado mattresses support a wide range of side- and back-sleeper body types. On our firmness scale, the Avocado Green is very firm and the Green Pillowtop is medium-firm.

Why it’s a good deal: The 10 percent savings, using the code LABORDAY, matches the standard discount we tend to see for these mattresses. And CR members may be able to save even more.

Bear Mattress is offering 35 percent off sitewide for Labor Day. A mattress purchase will also get you two Cloud pillows, a sheet set, and a mattress protector at no extra cost. The company typically includes only pillows outside of big sales like this.

The Bear Original foam mattress performs well in our tests, and it’s a good choice for back and side sleepers who are petite or of average height. (Tall folks may want to look elsewhere.) CR’s tests found that this mattress tends to retain heat, so it may be best for those who sleep cooler.

Why it’s a good deal: This mattress is back down to the best price we’ve seen, making it a great time to buy. Just use the code LDAY at checkout.

The Solaire mattress by Saatva is made with certified organic materials, a plus for those who prefer that their bedding be organic and don’t mind the cost. It offers impressive and stable support for all sleepers. Saatva air mattresses also receive high praise for both comfort and owner satisfaction in our member surveys.

Why it’s a good deal: Saatva’s Labor Day Sale puts the price of the mattress at a whopping $200 more than the lowest we’ve seen, so we recommend waiting to see whether it dips back down during Labor Day weekend. Or, if you’re a CR member, check out our exclusive Saatva offer to see whether you can save even more.

The Puffy Lux Hybrid innerspring/foam mattress-in-a-box comes through with above-average support for nearly every size and style of sleeper. The exception: large and tall back sleepers. The durability is impressive but stability is just average, which could leave sleepers feeling vibration from a partner’s movements. And this model doesn’t make shifting sleep positions easy. With a firmness rating of 1 out of 10, it’s quite soft.

Why it’s a good deal: The code AUGUSTOFFER takes a lot off the list price of this mattress, matching the low price we tend to see during holiday sales. If you’re a digital CR member, log in to save just a bit more.

This online-only mattress-in-a-box retailer has a 30 percent discount on its mattresses, including its namesake mattress, the GhostBed, which is worth a look. The deal also includes two free pillows, a common extra when buying directly from a mattress brand.

The queen-size GhostBed does well in our tests for supporting petite people who sleep on their back, and it earns top marks for durability, which means it shows little change in performance after eight to 10 years of simulated use in our tests.

Why it’s a good deal: The Labor Day sale is offering the standard sale price for this mattress, which has remained unchanged for months. CR members may even be able to save a little bit more. Just log in to see the details.

Back sleepers are especially well served by this moderately priced Beautyrest mattress—they can look forward to excellent support. And most side sleepers will enjoy impressive support. (Large and tall side sleepers are the exception.) This innerspring model is highly stable, and the durability is first-rate, with no discernible sagging, softening, or other damage over eight years of simulated use. The 12-inch height means no need for deep-pocket fitted sheets.

Why it’s a good deal: The next best price for this model is $100 more, making Home Depot the best place to get this mattress on sale.

The higher-end Casper Wave Hybrid is 2 inches thicker than the Casper Original Hybrid and offers four layers of foam—two memory and two standard polyurethane, compared with the Original Hybrid’s one layer of each. Petite and average back sleepers will find terrific support with this plush model, and side sleepers of all sleep positions will experience adequate support. But large/tall back sleepers will find more support with the Original Hybrid, which is also on sale.

Why it’s a good deal: Amazon’s sale price beats out the competition, but the others’ discounts are nearly as impressive.
