    Spotlight Deal

This large-capacity Zojirushi drip coffee maker gets a lot right: It’s simple to program and operate, with an easy-to-use carafe and minimal mess. It has a shower-style mechanism to dispense water over the grounds for even coverage, and you can adjust the strength of the brew. That said, it didn’t quite meet our standards in our brew test in terms of bringing the coffee to a temperature of 195° F to 205° F and maintaining it for 5 to 6 minutes. But Zojirushi as a brand does have top scores for reliability and owner satisfaction for its drip coffee makers. There’s a non-programmable version available, too, that we haven’t tested in our labs. However, because the mechanics of two machines are largely the same, we expect them to perform similarly.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the best price we’ve ever seen for this coffee maker.

    Coffee Makers

This Mr. Coffee machine is designed for people who like a lot of different styles of coffee and prioritize flexibility in their coffee maker. It brews both hot and cold coffee in single servings, and it comes with a reusable tumbler, lid, and straw, a reusable coffee filter, and a dual-sided scoop. It didn’t perform particularly well in our tests: Its brew performance passed muster, but our testers found it to be fairly difficult to operate and clean. The machine also required some time to cool off between runs—though if you’re making only a single cup at a time, that shouldn’t be an issue.

Why it’s a good deal: The price for this coffee maker has been fluctuating, but this is the best we’ve seen yet, beating the previous low by $2.

    Cookware

The 5.5-quart Le Creuset Signature has been at the top of our ratings for years. And while some newcomers perform just as well, the Le Creuset name is still highly sought after. The speed of heating is top-notch, and this Dutch oven is a cinch to clean. But if you bake a lot of bread, there are better choices. It weighs 12 pounds, less than most, and has an 8-inch cooking diameter. The loop handles are nice and wide.

Why it’s a good deal: Le Creuset doesn’t come cheap, but being able to get it at a discount makes it extra appealing. The Cerise color is the best deal, but there are more color options if you’re okay with spending just a little bit more.

Tia Mowry’s Dutch oven heats up quickly and bakes bread with a crispy crust, earning top marks on both tests. It’s almost as good at simmering sauces and heats evenly. Best of all, it’s a cinch to clean. It weighs almost 14 pounds and has a cooking surface that’s 8 inches in diameter.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the same sale price we’ve seen for the past several weeks, with Honey Gold having the biggest discount. The Teal version dipped $10 since last week, too.

    Countertop Appliances

This model is the third-highest-rated icemaker we’ve tested. It produces bullet ice and is among the most efficient in our tests. Its good score for speed is slightly slower than the winner from GE, and it’s slightly noisier than the winner and the runner-up. The company claims it can produce up to 26.5 pounds of ice per day. It has a self-cleaning function and, depending on where you purchase it, comes in up to five color options (black, green, gray, red, and white). It measures 12.6 inches high, 8.7 inches wide, and 12.3 inches deep, making it countertop-friendly, and its tank capacity is comparable most of the other models in our tests.

Why it’s a good deal: At under $100, it’s one of the lowest-priced icemakers in our ratings.

This Nutribullet doesn’t pack the punch of some processors, but it performs well with a black and chrome design that will look nice on your countertop. If you’re not a gourmet, it’s all you’ll need (and it’s now $40 off, to boot)—450 watts and three speeds; 7-cup work bowl; simple push-button controls, and attachments for chopping, slicing, shredding, spiraling, and kneading. It also comes with cord storage and a recipe booklet.

Why it’s a good deal: A sub-$100 price for this food processor is definitely worth a look. It was $10 cheaper during Prime Day, and might dip back down again closer to Labor Day.

As its Category 5 name suggests, this gunmetal-finish Cuisinart Hurricane Pro blender is noisy, but its commercial-grade horsepower takes blending to the next level. In fact, it’s Cuisinart’s most powerful blender. With variable speed control from 1,500 rpm to a turbo-boosting 30,000 maximum blending power, it also features automatic load sensing, adjustable presets, a digital display, and a memory-setting function. It comes with an extra-large 64-ounce Tritan plastic jar that’s free of bisphenol A (BPA) and has a soft-grip handle.

    Why it’s a good deal: You’re saving more than $100 on a top-performing blender.

    Air Purifiers

The portable Blue Pure 211i Max features an indicator light to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and four speeds. On its higher setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing top-notch results. This model is designed for use in a large space of 350 to 650 square feet and costs about $109 a year to maintain—just more than half that of the Pure 211+. It also weighs just 17 pounds, making it easy to move around. CR members found Blueair air purifiers highly reliable and were quite satisfied with their purchase.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the best price we’ve seen for this model, beating the recent sale price by $20.

The portable Blueair Protect 7470i features a handy filter indicator to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and three speeds. On its highest setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still getting solid results. This model is designed for floor or tabletop use in a space that’s about 420 square feet. It costs about $140 a year to maintain and weighs just under 28 pounds.

Why it’s a good deal: You’re saving over $100 off the original price.

Loud but effective at removing dust, pollen, and smoke when running at its highest speed, this Airdog portable air purifier misses the mark in a key area. Its air purifying performance at low speed is only fair, CR’s tests found. And at about 25 pounds, it’s also relatively heavy.

Why it’s a good deal: This air purifier doesn’t go on sale often, so take advantage of the on-page coupon.

    Kitchen Tools

    AeroGarden Harvest 360

The circular AeroGarden Harvest 360, among the smallest AeroGarden models, has six ports for seed pods. The starter kit includes one of four seed-pod kits—gourmet herbs, heirloom salad greens, red heirloom cherry tomatoes, and a grow-anything kit. Of the four gardens CR tried, the AeroGarden was the most fun to use, in part because most of the lettuces sprouted in a week and grew fast. But the unit was also relatively easy to operate. Total setup took just 8 minutes.

Why it’s a good deal: This is back down to the rare sub-$100 sale price we tend to see only during holiday sales. It usually goes on sale for $110.

    Global Classic 8" Chef's Knife

In our tests, the Global Classic 8” Chef’s Knife delivered on two fronts, but there was a clear dividing line. Users who favor a pinch grip loved the knife and found it to be exceptionally well balanced. Those who grip the knife handle with all five fingers, however, found it slightly less comfortable. Our experts also said people with large hands might find the handle to be slightly on the small side. Force transmission was excellent, and to the surprise of our panelists, the knife resisted slipping when used with wet hands, probably because the metal handle is designed with dozens of concave dimples to absorb excess moisture.

Why it’s a good deal: The sale price for this knife keeps getting better and better. It was around $80 for Prime Day, and the price has dropped $6 since last week, making this discount even more appealing.

ThermoPro’s SmartBT Meat Thermometer TP920 is one of the lower-priced leave-in two-probe wireless thermometers. It sends instant temperature readings to your smartphone via Bluetooth, offering excellent response time and accuracy. The easy-to-use app estimates remaining cook time for nearly all cuts and varieties of meat based on built-in Department of Agriculture guidelines.

Why it’s a good deal: It’s already a great price at its usual sale price of $40, but the on-page coupon lets you save just a little bit more.

    Bed and Bath

This Brooklinen set will fit a 14-inch mattress (or shorter). Our testers say that these sheets don’t shrink as much as some other cotton sheets we tested. They earn above-average scores for both fit and shrinkage, which means that though they do tend to get smaller during washes, they don’t deform all that much over time. Luxe Core sheets are on the softer side, based on our sensory test. Labels along each side that read “short side” and “long side” make clear which way to make the bed.

Why it’s a good deal: Brooklinen’s Staycation Sale takes 15 percent off the price of these sheets, marking the best price we’ve seen since July.

Our lab tests found that this Casper topper doesn’t allow users to sink in as deeply as you would with others. The dual-layer cushion combines a layer of softer foam over a firmer base-layer foam. At 20 pounds and 3 inches thick, this mattress topper isn’t easy to move around, but its machine-washable zip-off cover (made of polyester, cotton, rayon, and spandex) is easy to clean. But this topper cannot be flipped. Casper offers a 30-night risk-free trial, and its toppers are backed by a five-year limited warranty.

Why it’s a good deal: This discount is $100 better than the sale price we’ve seen recently, nearly half off the full price and the best we’ve ever seen.

This set of two microfiber pillows offers very good support for side sleepers but earns just middling scores in our back support tests. And its resilience is just so-so. But if you sleep on the warmer side, you can find comfort in knowing that this pillow has maximum breathability.

Why it’s a good deal: These pillows are only $5 more than the best price we’ve seen.

    Mattresses

Casper’s Hybrid is an innerspring mattress with several layers of foam. It offers a good night’s rest for all the sleeper sizes and styles we test for. CR members say Casper mattresses are a great value, and more than half of those surveyed would buy another.

Why it’s a good deal: This matches the lowest price we’ve seen for this mattress.

The My Green Mattress Natural Escape innerspring model topped with latex foam earns near-perfect ratings for back and spine support, no matter the sleeper’s size or favored sleep position. But like most innersprings in CR’s ranking for the best mattresses for hot sleepers, this mattress-in-a-box receives just an average rating for stability, which means sleepers may feel vibration from a partner’s tossing and turning. On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, this mattress lands right in the middle, with a 5. While the brand receives an above-average score for comfort in CR member surveys, its owner satisfaction rating is just average.

Why it’s a good deal: With the code USAMADE, you can take 15 percent off this mattress. This beats the best price we’ve seen in months by about $55.

    Outdoor Tools

This Black+Decker BEBL7000 leaf blower has a well-performing built-in vacuum function, making it easy to gather leaves into the included collection bag for composting or easy discarding. The bag connects using a flexible tube, making it easy to handle and maneuver. It’ll move leaves with very respectable efficiency (up to 250 mph) and leave little impact on your ears and neighbors. You’ll have multiple speeds at your disposal to tackle any job.

Why it’s a good deal: This leaf blower has been on sale for around $80 all summer, so this new, lower sale price makes it a great time to buy.

The Black+Decker BESTE620 has only a single cutting line; it’s meant for dealing with grass along walkways rather than thick brush. Even so, it earns a top rating for trimming and is easy to use, even if it doesn’t clear as quickly as some of the more powerful electric models.

Why it’s a good deal: It’s a modest discount, but the trimmer performs well and is a lower-cost option than other top performers in CR’s ratings.

    Vacuums

The Dyson Outsize+ is aces at cleaning bare floors and sucking up pet hair, and it leaves edges dust-free. It’s not quite as good at carpet, but it’s still a good choice if you only want one easy-to-store vacuum. It features a laser light on its soft roller powerhead that shows the dust in its path (this feature works best in low light or on dark flooring). Testers especially liked the LCD screen that shows battery countdown and monitors performance. An auto mode changes the vac’s suction according to floor type. A few major pluses: A big dirt bin (so there’s less emptying), and two click-in batteries for versatile cleaning and double the run time.

Why it’s a good deal: The sale price has dipped $50 in the past few weeks.

The iRobot Roomba i3+ Evo is a great option for homes of any size because it navigates in a grid pattern and keeps track of the spots it has or hasn’t cleaned. Maintenance and repairs are easy to perform at home, and iRobot has a track record for keeping spare parts available for every Roomba model it has sold. The Roomba i3+ Evo’s cleaning performance is strong. The brushless, rubberized rollers are great for pet hair; the model earns an excellent rating on that test. It’s also great at avoiding bot-snarling hazards like power cords.

Why it’s a good deal: This is about $100 less than the usual price.

    Large Appliances

This Whirlpool dishwasher is a strong performer, with a third rack and an upscale look for the price, including integrated controls. It’s similar to lower-end models from the KitchenAid brand, which is also owned by Whirlpool. (Whirlpool earned a strong rating for predicted reliability and a middling score for owner satisfaction, based on data from our reader survey.)

Why it’s a good deal: This is already one of the best options under $1,000, and it’s at its lowest price right now.

The LG LTE4815ST, a handsome electric range with double convection ovens, packs in a lot for the money. It offers a slide-in design and earned the top marks in nearly all our tests. (Baking was the only exception, but it received an above-average score nonetheless.) Notably spacious, it allows for plenty of food to fit into each oven, and it’s one of the only electric smoothtops we’ve tested to offer a self-clean setting. Plus, LG earned a top-notch predicted reliability rating for its electric ranges in our member surveys, but the brand’s owner satisfaction score was lukewarm.

Why it’s a good deal: This has been on sale since July Fourth, but the price just dropped a whopping $500.

The Amana ASI2175GRS is a solid refrigerator all-around, garnering above-average ratings for thermostat control and temperature uniformity. This 33-inch model is a bit light on features, but it has an external water/ice dispenser, gallon-sized storage bins on the doors, and digital controls.

Why it’s a good deal: It’s a solid discount for a solid performer from our ratings.
