If you’ve been waiting to get a new grill, this is your year. Even now, between major sales, there are still plenty of discounts on gas grills, charcoal grills, and more.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Americans raced to buy new grills. But supply chain shortages and strong demand meant that deals on them were few and far between. That has changed. After a sluggish 2022, many manufacturers and retailers have found themselves with a surplus of inventory, and some are offering discounts that would have been unthinkable just a year or two ago.

“Many grill manufacturers are using 2023 as a year to try to sell through older inventory,” says Mark Allwood, CR’s senior market analyst in charge of grills. “In some cases, companies have so many grills from the past year or so that they’re holding off on new introductions completely, and slashing prices, to try to move their older stock.”

Most striking? We’ve spotted deals on grills at every price level and from major brands like Nexgrill and Weber. If you’re just starting to shop, see our grill buying guide for more information on the different types and which ones might work best for you. CR members can also jump right to our ratings of hundreds of grills, including gas, charcoal, pellet, kamado, and portable options. Here, we’ve culled the deals from major retailers to find the best ones out there. Read on for our top picks.

Blackstone all but built the category of outdoor flat-top grills. This entry-level model proves you don’t need to spend a ton to get great performance from its products, either. It’s the fastest of the top models we tested to get hot. It maintains even temperatures across the surface on both low and high heat. And it’s one of the few to feature only two burners, not three; as a result, you might have a slightly harder time maintaining two drastically different temperatures on the surface at once.

The griddle is built on an unassuming open cart, and it features only one side shelf. Still, while this grill is light on features and lacks the finish or polish of pricier picks, it’s a strong performer at an unbeatable price.

Why it’s a good deal: The discount makes this already lower-priced model even more appealing.

A top performer by almost all measures, the Char-Griller Gravity 980 has an almost perfect score in our testing. It achieved a top score for cleaning, indirect cooking, and evenness, and performed almost as well for convenience. Additionally, the Gravity 980 has a few high-end features like a hopper feeder for adding more coal and a WiFi-enabled digital temperature controller. With a measured cooking area of 620 square inches, it’s also the largest charcoal grill we tested.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a great price. It was recently $50 less and may dip in price again closer to July Fourth.

The Coleman RoadTrip 285 is a portable grill with three burners, push-button ignition, coated cast-iron grates, and a slide-out shelf. It shines at preheating, receiving an excellent rating in that test, and garners above-average scores for temperature range and indirect cooking. It also has a generous 275-square-inch cooking surface. The grill’s heating evenness, however, is middling.

Why it’s a good deal: Amazon is the only retailer with a discount on this grill.

The Cuisinart CGG-306 is a tabletop propane gas grill with two separate 10,000-Btu burners that offer a wide range of temperatures. It preheats faster than most of its kind, and it’s quite solid at spreading heat evenly across the surface. Weighing just 24 pounds, this compact grill easily fits in any car, making it great for camping trips and picnics. Cuisinart offers a generous three-year warranty.

Why it’s a good deal: This is still available for the sale price we saw during Prime Day.

The Monument Grills 77352 is not only a good large grill for the money but also one of the highest-scoring gas grills in our ratings. It earns top marks across our performance tests for heating evenness, temperature range, and preheating, as well as a solid rating for indirect cooking. It comes with an electronic ignition, stainless steel grates, and four casters to make it easier to move around. And while the grill itself has a typical one-year warranty, it includes an eight-year warranty on the six burners.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a nice discount on an already lower-cost option when it comes to large gas grills.

The compact, low-priced Permasteel PG-40301-BK is a solid choice overall. It offers strong results in all of our crucial performance tests, including an impressive rating for evenness of heating. It has three burners, an electronic ignition, coated cast-iron cooking grates, and two side shelves. But we don’t have enough survey data yet to rate Permasteel’s gas grills for owner satisfaction and reliability.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a modest discount, and may get better closer to Labor Day.

The Weber Spirit E-210 is a spiffy, well-polished grill in a small package. It gives above-average performance when it comes to evenness, our most crucial test. Weber is also near the front of the pack when it comes to owner satisfaction and brand reliability, with top ratings for each.

Why it’s a good deal: The sale price matches the best we’ve seen.
